Let's just stay here, OK?

The Egadi Islands were a bit of an afterthought for Ben and I. We had a free day in Trapani, Sicily, and we’d heard tales of great snorkeling. And so we decided to catch the Ferry to Favignana and see what we could find.

First we had lunch, and planned our attack. Tuna Salad…

…followed by the Sicilian obligation *sigh* of gelato con brioche. This was almond gelato. This was heaven.

After lunch we set off to explore. We rode ravenously between swimming coves, searching for the perfect spot. The Island is wonderfully underdeveloped, a little rocky and not jazzed-up in the slightest.

Never did we expect waters so blue and clear you’d swear it was a dream.

Let's just stay here, OK?

Happy.

Yeah, happy.

We swam for hours alongside fish, mostly little ones, all very friendly in welcoming us to their home.

Crystal silk waters were just one of the beauties we were greeted with on the Island of Favignana…

…we also discovered road-side stands cooking hot dogs with tomato salsa.

Business was booming.

At 8pm we caught the ferry back to the mainland, to the mother Island, Sicily.

What a stunning afterthought Favingana was…
