Failed Mission and Perfect Pesto Nights
It seems that I may have been premature in casting aside any medicinal help, as I proclaimed I was going forth on a solo mission to get better. For, I am yet again unwell. I have spent the day in bed, longing to feel normal again. Although my appetite has disappeared, I wanted to share with you a lovely meal that I had on the night of my birthday brunch. Ben made pesto. Basil and pinenut pesto. It was amazing. We twirled our pasta in delight, and as we ate we watched 'The Big Sleep'. It was one of those perfect evenings...
It needed more basil
Vino
Homemade basil and pinenut pesto with chicken and asparagus. Delicious :) Such an amazing combination - lovely, fragrant basil, rich garlic, earthy pinenut undertones, confidently sharp parmesan and silky olive oil. mmmmmm. I love to toast the pinenuts first, to get a richer flavour. How fabulous the end product is, all depends on the quality of the ingredients used. We add more basil/pinenutes/garlic depending on our mood at the time. This night it was all about the garlic and basil.
I so long to feel that good again! I am feeling decidedly less stubborn about popping a pill to get better, and I am very open to accepting a helping hand from some chicken soup, drugs or preferably both.
