Magnolia Bakery
I find it quite hard to believe that tomorrow, on the 17th, it has been one whole year since I started my blog. I've had such a lovely time, sharing my stories with you. Thank you so much for all your support and kind words, and for encouraging all my food ramblings, ravings, recommendations and recipes. I adore writing about food, and any enjoyment it brings others is just fabulous. And so, on this celebratory occasion, I felt it would be rather perfect if I shared my recent visit to Magnolia Bakery in Greenwich Village, New York City. What says celebration more than cake?
The store was quite gorgeous, complete with a vintage mixer, the exact same one I have at home.
Gloriously decorated cakes were sitting tall and pretty on their stands - mud, carrot, pistachio...
...and rows of cute little cupcakes lined the store.
I chose a classic Vanilla Cupcake with Vanilla Buttercream.
We took our little cakes to go, hired some bikes and rode along the Hudson River from the West Village to Colombia University on the Upper West Side.
Along the way we stopped in a park for our sweet treat.
The cupcakes were so light and moist, the best I've ever had (granted my research has not been extensive). The Buttercream frosting was delightful - perfectly sweet and light. With a beautiful, soft pink tinge.
Note the man in speedos sunbaking behind us...it was that hot.
Peta chose the chocolate frosting, which was delicious also, yet I preferred the vanilla. It was perfect to me in that moment.
Cupcake Buttercream perfection. All I needed was a candle.
