Nigella's Chocolate Olive Oil Cake

Ben and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary last month. The number of years that have passed since we married pale in comparison to the number of years that have passed since we decided via text on our 2001 Nokia phones to "officially be boyfriend and girlfriend". That date was August 29th and in our minds, it remains our true anniversary. But February 25th is still a special day. It's the day our family came together to celebrate our love. It's the day we exchanged the vows we had written, which turned out to be hilariously similar and involved references to air guitar and spaghetti bolognese. It's the day you surprised me, and everyone in the room, by singing My Girl into a microphone. It's the day we toasted "cheers!" with my Dad's homemade limoncello and danced the night away, before heading back to my parents' house to camp in a tiny tent in their front yard.

In recent months an inordinate number of friends had recommended Nigella Lawson's flourless chocolate cake to me. And considering that flourless chocolate cake is perhaps my most favourite cake of all, I decided to bake it for our wedding anniversary. We ate big slices with creme fraiche and fresh blueberries for breakfast, and each declared it to be the best chocolate cake ever. Here is a link to the recipe. Please, do make it. It's truly glorious.
